On August 17, 2019, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s Court Services Bureau-Field Division conducted a warrant sweep primarily targeting the city of San Diego. The focus of the operation was the apprehension of subjects with outstanding warrants regardless of the charge or bail amount.
A total of 36 arrests were made today including 38 misdemeanor warrants and five felony warrants being cleared. Three subjects were cited and released. A 53 year old male from San Diego was contacted for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and found to be in possession of approximately 1.5 grams of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia. He was booked into jail on his warrant along with the new charges of 11377 HS- Possession of Controlled Substances and
11364 HS- Possession of Controlled Substances Paraphernalia. Two stolen vehicles were also recovered during the operation.
This warrant sweep was funded by the Sheriff’s Warrant System Automation Trust Fund. The trust fund is made up of assessment fees collected from people who have violated a written promise to appear in court or otherwise fail to comply with a court order.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department will continue its efforts in the apprehension of wanted subjects. Persons who have outstanding warrants are encouraged to turn themselves in Monday – Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm at any one of the Sheriff’s Court Facilities.
