Beginning the week of Nov. 14 through Monday, Dec. 24, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department will initiate its annual Holiday Watch program, a crime-fighting initiative consisting of enforcement and education to enhance public safety during the holiday season.
“Criminals do not take holidays off and neither will our deputies,” said Sheriff Bill Gore.
Under the Holiday Watch program, residents can expect more patrols in neighborhoods, malls, parking lots and other crime hot spots. Undercover operations will support uniformed patrols to enhance effectiveness and deputies will work with San Diego County Probation and State Parole to identify career criminals and repeat offenders who may be in violation of their conditions.
To increase public awareness, crime prevention specialists and Senior Volunteer Patrol (SVP) members will hand out flyers and be available for questions at designated mobile command posts located near major shopping areas.
Any suspicious activity should be reported to the Sheriff’s Department by calling (858) 565-5200. To learn more about the Holiday Watch Program, Sheriff Station schedules, and station contact information visit www.sdsheriff.net.
