Sheriff’s Homicide Unit Investigation in Vista

The following information is fragmentary and has not been completely verified. It is based, in part, on hearsay and is intended for early information use rather than being a formal investigative report.
This morning, Vista Sheriff’s Station deputies and Vista Fire Department personnel responded to a 9-1-1 call from within a residence.1800 Block of Hartwright Road Vista The caller stated there were two people shot inside the residence and one was not breathing. One female adult was pronounced deceased at the scene with a traumatic wound. An adult male was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment for a suspected gunshot wound. His injury is severe and his medical prognosis in unknown.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will notify the next of kin and perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
