It happened on Saturday, April 13 around 8:30 p.m. 21-year-old Frank Martinez was shot as he was walking in the 300 block of S. Santa Fe Avenue. Deputies arrived at the scene and located Martinez. Vista Fire Department personnel arrived and transported him to a hospital for treatment.
On April 29, 2024, The San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide Unit was notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office that Martinez had succumbed to his injuries. The San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide Unit will be assuming the investigation, which was being handled by Vista Street Narcotics and Gang detectives. No arrests have been made in this case. The shooting remains under investigation.

La víctima falleció
Ocurrió el sábado 13 de abril alrededor de las 8:30 p.m. Frank Martínez, de 21 años, recibió un disparo mientras caminaba en la cuadra 300 de S. Santa Fe Avenue. Los oficiales llegaron al lugar y localizaron a Martínez. El personal del Departamento de Bomberos de Vista llegó y lo transportó a un hospital para recibir tratamiento.
El 29 de abril de 2024, la Oficina del Médico Forense notificó a la Unidad de Homicidios del Alguacil de San Diego que Martínez había sucumbido a sus heridas. La Unidad de Homicidios del Alguacil de San Diego asumirá la investigación, que estaba a cargo de detectives de Narcóticos y Pandillas de Vista Street. No se han realizado arrestos en este caso. El tiroteo sigue bajo investigación.
