Six Cougars Earn Spot on CSC Academic All-District Teams

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Nolan Long, Pat MacDonald Jr. and Luke Reece of the Cal State San Marcos baseball team and Zoe Ballen, Mayca Brown and Morgan Salgado of the Cal State San Marcos softball team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50% of the team’s games at their position. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 6 for softball and June 7 for baseball.
