‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace’ (SHP) Builds Hundreds of Beds for Children and Families

HELPING CHILDREN IN NEED SLEEP BETTER!

On Saturday March 26, 2023, approximately 25 to 30 Hunter Industries employees in San Marcos gathered together with all their tools and volunteered to build the current order of beds needed to be assembled for ‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace’. They will then be delivered and given out to children in the local area that need beds to sleep on. The reason is, these children do not have their own bed to sleep on at home.

The team worked in two shifts, one in the morning, then a lunch break and one in the afternoon. The volunteers are all ages, even children of the volunteers, help with processing and preparing the wood for assembly of the beds. During this morning visit the volunteers were building 11 beds to be delivered. They are not just building beds, they are building community.

The Sponsor for this build is Hunter Industries. They paid $5000, $250 per bed for this team building event. SHP then uses the lumber to build the beds then they are delivered. Currently there are also about 170 bed orders on the waiting list.

The children all receive a new bed, with a mattress, sheets, pillows, and blankets and for some kids it will be the very first time that they will have a bed.

There is so much need out there. One teacher knew a mom with six kids in her family and they needed beds.

The spokesman and employee of Hunter Industries fully believes that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to their attention that the need for beds went far beyond their own neighborhoods, they stepped up and took the initiative to take on this much needed task.

All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Across the U.S., too many boys and girls go without a bed – or even a pillow – to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health.

That’s where ‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace’ comes in. They are a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. The organization has grown steadily over time, and they are working to open more chapters in different states to serve more people. NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!®
