Softball CSU San Marcos Debuts at No. 25 in NFCA Top 25 Poll

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the first time as an NCAA member, the Cal State San Marcos softball team is nationally ranked as the Cougars came in at No. 25 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Poll on Tuesday.

With a 23-3 record, CSUSM is off to its best start in the Division II era (2015-present). The Cougars started off the season strong with a 4-1 record at Concordia University Irvine’s Kickoff Classic. After a doubleheader sweep against Azusa Pacific, the Cougars recorded two CCAA sweeps and won their first four conference series. CSUSM also recorded three consecutive midweek wins over GNAC leader Simon Fraser.

The Cougars are one of two CCAA schools ranked in the NFCA Top 25 with Chico State (22-4, 14-2) coming in at No. 11 for the second consecutive week.

No. 25 CSUSM will play a four-game series against the 11th-ranked Wildcats in Chico this weekend beginning with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday.
