For residents ready to do some spring cleaning, the City of Carlsbad makes it easy to get rid of old, broken or unwanted items in a safe and convenient way. These services are offered year-round and support the city’s efforts to keep hazardous waste out of local landfills.

Bulky items

Carlsbad residents can dispose of large items like furniture, mattresses and appliances with free curbside pick-up, good for up to five items three times annually, offered through our waste disposal company. Find a complete list of eligible items here, along with information on which items aren’t eligible.
To schedule a pick-up, residents must call Waste Managementat 760-929-9400 at least 24 hours in advance of their regular collection day.
Electronic waste

The city also makes it easy to safely dispose electronic waste (“e-waste”) like old computers, monitors, copiers, fax machines, printers, televisions and other devices. Many of the parts – including metals, plastic and glass – can be recycled, while others may present environmental hazards if not managed correctly.
Residents can drop off e-waste for free at Waste Management’s buyback center at Palomar Transfer Station: 5960 El Camino Real. Hours of operations are: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch 12 – 12:40 p.m.).
As with bulky items, residents can also schedule free curbside collection of e-waste by calling Waste Management at 760-929-9400 at least 24 hours in advance of your regular collection day.
