SAN MARCOS, Calif. – With the 2022-23 Cal State San Marcos men’s basketball season just over a month away, Head Coach BJ Foster announced the Cougars’ schedule on Wednesday.
CSUSM’s 27-game schedule includes 14 home games, five games against non-conference opponents and 22 CCAA contests.
“We have a very tough non-conference schedule against a lot of very good teams in the West Region,” Foster said. “We have a lot of road games early in the season, so we will be tested from the start.”
CSUSM will begin the regular season on the road at Saint Martin’s where they’ll face the host Saints and MSU Billings on Nov. 11 and 12, respectively.
The Cougars’ first countable home game will see Central Washington in San Marcos on Nov. 17. Just before Thanksgiving, CSUSM will travel down to San Diego to face 2021-22 PacWest Regular-Season Champion Point Loma on Nov. 22.
CSUSM will begin the 22-game CCAA slate on the road at Cal State LA (Nov. 26) before games at Stanislaus State (Dec. 1) and Chico State (Dec. 3). The Cougars will then play their first home conference games against San Francisco State (Dec. 8) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Dec. 10). Wrapping up the calendar year, CSUSM will host Seattle Pacific on Dec. 17.
The Cougars will celebrate New Year’s Day at The Sports Center as they welcome Cal State LA for the second game of the season series against the Golden Eagles. CSUSM will then go on a four-game road trip to Cal State San Bernardino (Jan. 5), Cal Poly Pomona (Jan. 7), Sonoma State (Jan. 12) and Cal Poly Humboldt (Jan. 14).
CSUSM will return to San Marcos for a four-game homestand and wrap up January against Cal State East Bay (Jan. 19), Cal State Dominguez Hills (Jan. 21), Cal Poly Pomona (Jan. 26) and Cal State San Bernardino (Jan. 28).
The Cougars will begin February on the road at Cal State Monterey Bay (Feb. 2) and San Francisco State (Feb. 4) before coming back to The Sports Center to face Chico State (Feb. 9) and Stanislaus State (Feb. 11).
CSUSM’s final road trip of the regular season will see the Cougars travel to Cal State Dominguez Hills (Feb. 16) and Cal State East Bay (Feb. 18). CSUSM will then wrap up the regular season with a pair of home games against Cal Poly Humboldt (Feb. 23) and Sonoma State (Feb. 25).
Should the Cougars be one of the top six teams in the CCAA standings at the end of the regular season, they’ll travel to Turlock to defend their 2021-22 CCAA Tournament Championship as Stanislaus State hosts the 2022-23 CCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on March 2-4 at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
CSUSM ended the 2021-22 season with an overall record of 20-5 and was 13-4 in CCAA play. After winning the CCAA Tournament Championship, the Cougars made their first NCAA West Regional appearance as the No. 1 seed.
2021-22 season ticket holders have until Oct. 23 to renew their seats for the upcoming season. From Oct. 24-Nov. 11, new season tickets will go on sale to the general public before single-game tickets go on sale Nov. 14. For purchases and any questions, contact Maggie Juan (mjuan@csusm.edu).
