SAN MARCOS, CA — Hundreds of local 6th- to 9th-grade students, along with educators and parents, will converge on Palomar College on Saturday, March 16 for the third-annual STEM Conference, which promotes education in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Running from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., the conference is free and open to students currently enrolled in grades 6, 7, 8 or 9.
For the third year, Palomar’s STEM Conference gives budding scientists, engineers and technologists the opportunity to experience the thrills and breakthroughs of modern science, including:
• Interactive STEM workshops in game development, forensic anthropology and aeronautics
• Hands-on chemistry and biology experiments
• Networking with other students and STEM professionals at the STEM Fair
• Updates on the latest technologies and programs in the world of STEM
Parents and educators will learn how to support their students in the pursuit of STEM-oriented training and careers, and will receive information about the Palomar Promise, which provides a free first year of college to local high school graduates.
