Four years ago, the coveted ‘Fork Award’ was added to The Taste of Vista festivities. At the check-in table, each person was given a menu card for the food tastings and a cup for the Wine and Beer sip stops along the way. They also received a gold coin to be placed at the restaurant food booths for their favorite tasty morsel sample to choose a winner. In 2016, ‘When Pigs Fly’ was the winner of the first ‘Fork Award. In 2017, ‘508 Tavern’ was the winner and in 2018, ‘When Pigs Fly’ won for the second time.
This years winner is ‘Sunrise Café. They won with their tasty strawberry and whip cream waffle. Aside from their award winning breakfast, an extensive lunch menu is available. On Fridays, the Clam Chowder is a do not miss. Come by and visit the restaurant at 1250 So. Santa Fe Avenue, Vista, 6am to 2:30pm 7 days a week. Everyone that attended were not all from Vista. We spoke with residents from all over the 78 Corridor, including Escondido, San Marcos, Carlsbad and Oceanside. Once again, Vista represented well.
