The Classical Academies Appoints Kurtis Indorf as New Chief Executive Officer

Escondido, CA – May 6, 2024 – The Classical Academies Board of Directors of proudly announces the appointment of Kurtis Indorf as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2024.

With a background in education leadership and a proven track record of transformative impact, Indorf brings a wealth of experience and vision to this new role. His appointment follows a highly successful tenure as Interim Superintendent at Great Hearts Texas, where he served over 12,000 students across classical K-12 public charter schools, showcasing innovation and dedication to educational excellence.

Prior to his interim position, Indorf distinguished himself as the Founder, President, and Superintendent of Great Hearts Nova, leading the development of revolutionary learning models and overseeing significant growth and expansion. His tenure as Chief Innovation Officer for Great Hearts America further solidified his reputation as a visionary leader in education.

As a proven non-profit board leader, Indorf has contributed his expertise to multiple charter network boards, including serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for one of Texas’s fastest-growing charter networks. His gubernatorial appointment to the Colorado Charter School Institute’s board of directors underscores his commitment to advancing educational opportunities for all.

Indorf began his career teaching English Language Learners in Phoenix, Arizona through Teach for America. He holds a Master of Science in Education from Arizona State University, with a focus on secondary English curriculum and instruction, and a Bachelor of Science from Ithaca College in Integrated Marketing Communications and Legal Studies. Additionally, he pursued studies in Theology and Philosophy at Trinity College, in Dublin, enriching his perspective on education and leadership.
In 2023, Indorf was recognized as a Presidential Leadership Scholar by the Clinton, Bush, and LBJ Presidential Centers, a 40 Under 40 honoree by the San Antonio Business Journal, and a National Advisory Board Member on Education Savings Accounts with Tyton Partners.
