West Valley Center, Utah, December 10, 2024 – The San Diego Clippers (6-5) beat the Salt Lake City Stars (6-7) 106 to 104.
The San Diego Clippers jumped out to an early lead, fueled by Nate Darling’s 10 points in his first start of the season. However, the Stars responded, cutting the Clippers’ lead to just two points by the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with the Clippers maintaining their two-point lead after RayJ Dennis’ last-minute layup. Elijah Harkless led all scorers with 16 points, shooting an efficient three-of-four from beyond the arc in his first start of the year. A strong defensive third quarter saw the Clippers force eight turnovers, but the Stars took control, building a five-point lead behind Max Abmas’ eight points and shooting over 50% from beyond the arc. After trailing by as many as 13 points, the Clippers used a 20 to 6 run to take the lead in the last minute. Clutch defense and free throw by Elijah Harkless gave the Clippers the win, 106 to 104.
The San Diego Clippers were led by Elijah Harkless, who scored 28 points, tying his career high, on 10-of-19 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Tosan Evbuomwan posted his first double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. RayJ Dennis added 15 points, a career-high seven rebounds, and six assists. The Clippers’ aggressive defense was a key factor, forcing 17 steals and 24 total turnovers.
The Salt Lake City Stars were led by Brice Sensabaugh’s 21 points. Oscar Tschiebwe scored 11 points and collected 18 rebounds.
