The nonprofit, whose walking trail runs from Wildwood Park east towards Brengle Terrace Park, kicked off Spring a couple weeks ago with the help of thirty High School Students from North Coast Church in a four hour volunteer cleanup project along one portion of the popular trail. The teens filled an entire 40 yard sized dumpster with dead palm fronds, trimmed branches, fallen leaves, and trash, in an effort to ensure the trail remains safe and accessible for all to enjoy.
But everyone knows, a thorough spring cleaning will likely take more than a single day, which is why The Vista Conservancy arranged a second trail cleanup, set for this coming Saturday, April 27th, in celebration of Earth Day.
This time around, the volunteer group is comprised of forty plus Jr. High Students from North Coast plus more than 25 adult members of the Vista Church.
We have also learned The Vista Conservancy has informed all neighbors whose homes line the west end of the trail (from Capri Dr. west to the start of the long abandoned Sycamore Creek Mobile Home Park) that if they can clear what is deemed by Fire officials as combustible vegetation on the top portion of the hill closest to their homes, and have brought down alongside the trail by the Friday before the cleanup (this Friday, April 26), The Conservancy, with the help of volunteers, will haul away at no cost to neighbors. We feel it is a wonderful opportunity given to neighbors, especially with fire season only a few months away.
