SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After a week off due to the Lilac Fire in the surrounding areas, the Cal State San Marcos men’s and women’s basketball team are anxious to take the court again this week in the lone event for Cougar Athletics.

CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS •The Toros hold a 4-1 advantage in the all-time series over the Cougars
•CSUSM fell by a combined total of seven points to CSUDH last season, dropping a 67-64 decision at home before falling 72-68 in Carson.
•After dropping their first two games of the season to Point Loma and Azusa Pacific, the Toros have won six of their last seven contests including a 91-76 thrashing at San Francisco State.
•CSUDH leads the CCAA in points per game, averaging 72.3 as a team.
•The Toros have three players in the top 15 on the CCAA point leader board with Nautica Morrow ranked No. 3 with 17.9 per game.
CSUSM BREAKDOWN •The Cougars did not play last week as their game at Cal Poly Pomona was postponed because of growing wildfires in San Diego’s North County.
•The Cougars took down two-time defending CCAA Tournament Champion Cal State East Bay in their home and conference opener on Thursday, Nov. 30. CSUSM held on for a 74-71 win against the Pioneers.
•The Cougars rank fifth in the conference in blocked shots (3.5 per game) and assists (14.67 per game).
•Senior Monica Friedl has tallied eight blocked shots in her six games she has played.

CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS •CSUSM has dropped the last two meetings and is 2-2 all-time against the Toros.
•In the last meeting, the Cougars fell 84-75 in Carson, Calif. on February 23, 2017. Senior Ethan Alvano scored a game-high 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting but the Toros proved too much, shooting 51.4 percent (18-of-35) in the second half to help secure the win.
•CSUDH has won three consecutive games and will take on CCAA opponent Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday, Dec. 14 before facing CSUSM on Sunday

•Jonathan Nichols leads the team in points (12.5), assists (3.4) and minutes (32.4) per game this season.
•The Toros rank last in the CCAA offensively in points per game (68.5) but are fourth in the conference in scoring defense while holding opponents to only 68.7 points per game.
