SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Women’s golf, women’s soccer, volleyball and men’s/women’s cross country will all be in action this week for Cal State San Marcos Athletics.
Women’s golf will get the week started by hosting the CSUSM Fall Classic at Woods Valley Golf Club in Valley Center, California, on Monday and Tuesday.
Women’s soccer will travel up to San Francisco State for the first round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament on Tuesday at 3 p.m. With a win, the Cougars would advance to the semifinals hosted by UC San Diego and play the No. 1 Tritons on Friday at 1:30 p.m. A victory in the semifinals would advance the Cougars to the final on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in La Jolla.
Volleyball will wrap up its regular season with matches at No. 12 Cal State L.A. on Friday and at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
Men’s and women’s cross country will compete at the CCAA Championships on Saturday at Cal State San Bernardino. The men’s 8K will begin at 9 a.m. and will be followed by the women’s 6K at 10 a.m.

CSUSM UPDATE •CSUSM returns to the Golfstat.com Top 25 rankings at No. 19 on Oct. 23.
•The Cougars placed fourth at the Skyhawk Intercollegiate on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
•Jacob vaulted up 14 spots to earn a share of runner-up honors after carding a tournament-low 68 in the final round.
•As the defending CCAA Champion, Jacob earned CCAA Golfer of the Week (Oct. 17-23). It was her fifth career weekly honor.
•Garcia was CCAA Golfer of the Week (Sept. 19-25) after winning CSUSM’s first individual title of 2018-19 season at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate.
•Three Cougars ranking in the Golfstat.com NCAA Division II Player Rankings with Jacob leading the way with a No. 14 ranking. Hogle and Garcia rank No. 65 and No. 69, respectively.
THE HUTTON FILE •Head coach Greg Hutton has been at the helm of the men’s program since the 2010-11 season and was named the women’s head coach in 2014.
•Under Hutton’s leadership, the women’s team won CSUSM’s first CCAA Championship in school history in 2018.

THE LEONARD FILE •Head coach Andrea Leonard enters her eighth season in charge of the Cougar volleyball team, a program she has built from the ground up since arriving on campus in 2010.
