Traffic alert: Via Vera Cruz and Bent Ave. Closed

San Marcos street closures are expected along portions of S. Bent Avenue, Via Vera Cruz, Discovery Street and other areas near the San Marcos Creek in the coming days due to forecasted rains.

Current Road Status
1.Bent Avenue between San Marcos Boulevard and Discovery Street
Status: CLOSED

2.Craven Road at Foxhall Court
Status: CLOSED

3.Via Vera Cruz between San Marcos Boulevard and Discovery StreetStatus: CLOSED

All closures will be clearly marked and alternate routes will be provided. Motorists should use caution when driving through these areas and allow extra travel time to accommodate slowing due to wet road conditions. Please be advised that road closures and alternate routes may change without notice.

These closures are common during any type of rain event and the city is not concerned about significant mudslides or erosion at this time. Residents are urged to avoid flooded areas. Residents should obey road barricades and signs; never “sightsee” in areas with flooding or try to cross a flowing stream. Strong currents can knock you off your feet with as little as six inches of water. Swiftly flowing water as shallow as one foot can easily sweep a car from the road.
