TrueCare Gala Raises Over $325,000 for Older Adult Critical Healthcare in North County

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (May 1, 2023) – TrueCare’s “Havana Nights” Gala raised over $325,000 to expand critical health care services for older adults and those with complex health needs in North San Diego and South Riverside Counties.

TrueCare received resounding support and contributions from more than 360 attendees to provide enhanced programs and services for the aging population in San Diego.

Proceeds will be used to enhance services at TrueCare’s new Older Adult Health Center in West San Marcos that is designed to provide a unique health care experience for adults aged 50-plus with complex and chronic health conditions. The center is a progressive step towards addressing San Diego County’s growing older adult population, which is projected to increase by nearly 60% by 2035.

“As our baby boomer generation enters their golden years, the importance of access to health care cannot be understated,” said Michelle D. Gonzalez, president and CEO of TrueCare. “We are grateful for our community partners and supporters who made an investment in the health and well-being of our community.”

For over 50 years, TrueCare has been treating older adults through primary care and adult medicine services across their network of community health centers. The Older Adult Health Center augments TrueCare’s capacity for serving more seniors with quality, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care.

The gala proceeds will also be used to support senior patients by providing transportation assistance to and from their appointments, one-on-one help with virtual health care tools, and care team coordinators.

Members of the TrueCare Board of Directors who attended the 2023 TrueCare gala gather to celebrate health care for all. “We are very fortunate to have an organization in North San Diego County like TrueCare that helps to improve the lives of older adults and individuals living in underserved communities to ensure they receive the quality care that everyone deserves,” says Rick Rungaitis, president and CEO of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce. “TrueCare has been an active member with our Chamber for many years and we steadfastly support TrueCare’s mission of providing comprehensive health care for our most vulnerable and economically disadvantaged residents.”
