Vehicle / Motorcycle Fatality Collision on Coast Highway

Oceanside, CA – On Saturday, September 28, 2024, at approximately 1:53 p.m., the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a major injury collision involving multiple vehicles and motorcycles on Coast Highway. A group of (5 to 6) sport motorcycles traveling north on Coast Hwy approaching West Street. A vehicle was stopped in the number one lane of NB Coast Highway, intending to make a left turn. One rider began to slow for that car, and another rider failed to see the first rider slowing and rear-ended the motorcycle. Both motorcycles and riders fell to the roadway and slid into opposing lanes of traffic. One of the riders was then run over by a Toyota Yaris, that was traveling southbound on Coast Highway. A second rider continued past the Yaris and ran into the side of a fourth vehicle.

One rider suffered major head and chest trauma. He was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

The second rider suffered injuries and was treated on scene. The two drivers in the vehicles involved were not injured.
The identity of the deceased Motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
