Vehicle / Pedestrian Fatal Collision on Rancho Del Oro Drive

Oceanside, CA – On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 07:31 am, the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a major injury collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of Rancho Del Oro Drive and Via Rancho. Henry Broncy, an 83-year-old Oceanside resident was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 46-year-old Oceanside resident.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, was cooperative with police, and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Broncy was crossing the street outside of the marked pedestrian crosswalk when he was struck. The driver was not arrested nor are there any charges pending.

Mr. Broncy was transported to a local trauma center with major injuries. Unfortunately, the
Oceanside Police Department was notified today, August 5th, 2024, that Mr. Broncy succumbed to his injuries and passed away this afternoon.
