Do you ever dream of being a Viking? Do you want to experience their Viking skills, crafts, and entertainment? Do you feel the need for mead? Vista Viking Festival is the place to be. Where the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the air is filled with the sounds of laughter and music. There are people everywhere, dressed in Viking costumes. There is music playing, and there is a delicious smell of food in the air.
The 21st Vista Viking Festival, California’s Premiere Viking and Nordic heritage event comes to the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum in Vista, CA on September 16th and 17th, 2023.
Step back in time and experience the culture and history of the Vikings. This annual Vista Viking Festival features a variety of activities, including live music, traditional food and drink, Viking games and competitions, and a Viking village encampment. A place where you can see how the Vikings fought their battles and learn about the Norse way of life.
Live Celtic-Folk-Rock music from local headliners and super-groups on the main stage. Other entertainment throughout the weekend includes a Viking Skáld (Storyteller), and the International Highland Games Federation’s Stones of Strength Competition
Visit the Viking village, a re-creation of a 10th-century Viking Village where Visitors can explore the encampments of different Viking Reenactment Guilds, meet the Norse Folk who live there. Llearn about their customs and traditions with authentic daily activities. Blacksmithing, fabric arts, fine metalworking, and more!
Let your children enjoy the children’s village, where Little Vikings can paint their own shields and swords, and others can learn new crafts, try music lessons, games, face painting, or join the Rune Quest Scavenger Hunt and learn more about Viking culture.
There will be a variety of Viking-themed goods, crafts, and souvenirs available for purchase at our Viking Marketplace. You can find everything from Viking clothing to jewelry to weapons and utensils. Heritage Hall will be a large tent filled with Rosemaling artists, fiber arts, and woodworking. Beautiful hand made crafts and folk art made by the Daughters of Norway will also be on display and for purchase
The Viking games and competitions include axe throwing, archery, Log Toss, Viking Beard, Battle Horn blowing, and the Famous Fish Fling competitions. At the Weapons Range: Four archery lanes Three axe throwing lanes One spear lane Expert instructors will train you in skills that last a lifetime. Saturday Night Only: The Flaming-Flying Fiery Axes!
There will be plenty of traditional Scandinavian and Viking food and drink vendors to choose from. You can try exotic foods like Swedish Meatballs, Krumkake, and the signature Berserker Dog. Soft drinks and water are also available.
There will also be a wide variety of beverages available. The Festival is known for featuring an exceptional selection of local Meads, Beers, and Ciders. As well as wines and spirits from around the world.
