As you may have heard, for a number of months the Vista Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and leadership team have been considering opportunities to strengthen the organization’s financial position, as well as identify and fund new programs to meet the needs of our members. In order to do this, the Board unanimously approved the option to sell our building. Downtown Vista is a popular destination and local experts estimate that the Chamber has significant equity in our building. As such, the Vista Chamber has decided to list our building at 127 Main Street for sale.
In the coming days you will see a for sale sign on the building and we wanted to share this information. While we enjoy our location on Main Street, the time is right for us to sell the building in order to invest in our organization. The building sale is not directly related to COVID-19 though the economic effects of the shutdown have impacted the Chamber. Event revenue is down and many of the loan programs available to small businesses are not available to us as a 501c6 organization. While discussions about selling the building have been ongoing for months, the economic realities of navigating a pandemic as a membership organization are real and have contributed to the timing of the sale.
We are unsure at this time if we will lease the property back or if we will move operations to a new location. What we do know is that your Chamber Board of Directors and Staff are working for you every day no matter the location of our office. We know that our members need us more than ever, and we look at the current situation as an opportunity to assess everything the Chamber does and ensure that everything we do is focused on meeting the needs of our members above anything else.
If you have any questions or are interested in purchasing the building, please reach out to me at ceo@vistachamber.org.
