Vista Community Clinic (VCC) has been chosen as one of only 50 healthcare centers, country wide, to win a $10,000 prize in the first round of the “P4 Challenge” (Promoting Pediatric Primary Prevention) courtesy of the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). The community clinic won for their innovative approach to increasing access to youth immunizations and visits. Of particular concern is the 19% decline in the number of preteens, ages 11-12, seen last year as a result of the pandemic. Adolescence is a critical time period for vaccine administration and clinicians at VCC want to focus on giving children the best chance at becoming healthy adults, with access to the right healthcare.
Now that VCC’s pediatrics department has been selected as a winner of the challenge’s first round, the clinic will be able to execute those creative ideas in their outreach efforts to patients and community members.
blockquote>>The clinic is stepping up their game by adding more education, easier and more convenient access, quicker appointments, and incentives to help children, especially those preteens, stay up to date with annual visits and vaccinations. Saturday clinics, drive-thru events, gift cards, and more will help them reach their goals.
With eight clinics offering pediatric care in Vista, Oceanside, La Habra, and Lake Elsinore the healthcare center has plenty of appointment availability and room for new patient families in all three Southern California counties they serve.
