Vista Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Malson, from the Vista Traffic Unit, was recently recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for his outstanding work in removing impaired drivers from Vista roads. Deputy Malson made 102 impaired driver (Driving Under the Influence – DUI) arrests in 2021. Arresting 102 impaired drivers in one year is a remarkable accomplishment and puts Deputy Malson in the top three DUI arresting officers in San Diego County.
“Deputy Mason’s hard work, commitment and dedication have, without a doubt, saved many lives and injuries by removing these impaired drivers from the streets of Vista,” said Vista Sheriff’s Captain Ricardo Lopez.
Law enforcement is provided by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department who is under contract with the City. The Vista Sheriff’s Department provides a full range of services which include general patrol, investigations, narcotics and gang investigations, crime prevention, juvenile intervention, community policing and administrative services. Some of the specialty investigative areas include, homicide investigations, helicopter patrols, swat teams, bomb and arson investigations, fraud and forgery investigations and licensing investigation.
