We all know that the last 20 months have been challenging for everyone especially, kids. The members of 14U and JV Cheer were no exception. Back in March of 2020 many kids who participated in VISTA POP WARNER FOOTBALL AND CHEER programs had no idea that their practice in March of 2020 was going to be the last time they were going to see their teammates, friends, and coaches. Kids are back and a lot has changed, time spent away from school and the football fields gave Vista Pop’s coaches, team players and parents the chance to rethink strategies and find new motivation. This year head coach Coleman realized he had himself a small problem, most of his players had joined another league during the pandemic, so he was left with only 10% of his original players, his team was in desperate need of new blood. They started the season with 90% first year players.. Regardless of the setbacks, 14U and JV parents continued encouraging their children and teammates to do better and to learn from their experiences. Parents never stopped supporting the coaches and officials that have been tirelessly working with their children. The Vista Panthers continued To improve throughout the season, and they have made it all of the way to the championship Game.

With that being said, the JV Cheer team Coached by Erica Coleman Has also become a force to be reckoned with. These young ladies Cheer for the Vista Panthers on the sidelines, but they also have their own competitions. The JV Panthers Cheer squad fought hard and earned their way to compete in the national tournament in Florida! They have been in this position before in 2017 placing 3rd and 2018 placing 2nd this year they hope to win it all and bring home that first place trophy.

As you can see that through sports these two teams have along with the Vista Pop Warner organization have given this community a beacon of hope. These teams are a true testament that hard work and perseverance can overcome any obstacle in your way, rather its seasons being stopped do to Covid, or having to rebuild if you work hard enough anything is possible, and the teams have the whole city behind them.

First year player number 25, Adam Rangel, said “Actions speak louder than words, I know every coach appreciates hearing the words, “thank you, Coach” after each game, win or lose.” Adam is very grateful for the opportunity he has been given, he is preparing himself mentally and physically. “They gave me a chance, they helped me excel and have taught me how to deal with the realities of life. I’m playing to win.” he said.

One of the team parents,

Veronica Rangel said, “We parents thank our Coaches, especially when we lose because, we are saying thanks for their selflessness and all the time and encouragement they give to our kids. We truly appreciate it.”
