Vista Rising Star Students of the Year Honored in Online Ceremony, Scholarships Awarded

Vista, CA – The Vista Chamber of Commerce awarded twelve high school seniors with college scholarships in an online award ceremony on June 11. These students were selected from more than 50 students from nine local high schools who were honored in monthly recognition ceremonies this school year as part of the popular Rising Star Student of the Month Program.

Thanks to the generous program sponsors, the Vista Chamber was able to award $10,000 in scholarships to twelve student. Seven students received $1,000 scholarships as Rising Star Students of the Year, one student received $1,000 scholarship as the Distinguished Female Student from PEO Sisterhood Vista Chapter ND, and four students received $500 Award of Merit Scholarships.

Rising Star Students of the Year:

· Leslie Lopez – Alta Vista High School

· Izak Bunda – Guajome Park Academy

· Kainath Kamil – Mission Vista High School

· Gabriela Gonzalez – Rancho Buena Vista High School

· Miranda Sherwood – Tri City Christian High School

· Julia O’Neill – Vista High School

· Arianna Raquel Ayala – Vista Visions Academy

Distinguished Female Student PEO Vista Chapter ND:

· Jayde Wagner – Mission Vista High School

Awards of Merit:

· Alicia Llamas – Guajome Park Academy

· Kulpreet Chhokar – Mission Vista High School

· Jordan Deaver – Rancho Buena Vista High School

· Kylie Record – Vista High School

The Vista Rising Star Student of the Month Program, now in its 7th year, recognizes high school seniors for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school and community activities and/or the ability to overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education. The core of the Rising Star of the Month is the student who makes a difference in their home, school & community with sincerity and passion.
