Construction on a new traffic signal on Bobier Drive at Goodwin Drive, near Vista High School begins the week of December 9. The project is part of the City’s 2018/19 Fiscal Year traffic signal priority list. The intersection warrants the installation of a traffic signal and ranked number one in priority based on the traffic and physical conditions at the intersection. Bobier Drive carries high traffic volumes, which makes it difficult for vehicles to pull out of Goodwin Drive and to make left turns onto Goodwin Drive.
The new signal will be coordinated with the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Bobier Drive and Panther Way. As part of the project, the intersection of Bobier Drive and Panther Way will get a diagonal crossing to accommodate the high volume of school pedestrians. Construction hours will be Monday through Friday and motorists should expect periodic lane closures during construction.
The construction is scheduled to be completed in spring, 2020.
