Four students from the Escondido Union High School District will begin painting two new murals on the Washington Park pool building this week. The art will be installed as part of a pilot program, initiated last year between the Escondido Union High School District, the City, and the Public Art Commission. Starting on Wednesday, students and teachers will be onsite daily, from approximately 12:30 – 3:30 p.m., and expect the work to take two weeks. A ribbon cutting will be planned for August, when school is back in session. Our hope is that this program will continue to enhance Escondido’s vibrant public art scene and promote and foster our youth artists.

The CCAE has tentatively scheduled a 15-minute dedication of the new mural on Friday, June 24, at 5:45 p.m., preceding the Street Legacy: SoCal Style Masters Opening Reception.
