Cougars Go Dancing! CSUSM Heading to Hawaii for West Regionals
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The RV/No. 19 Cal State San Marcos women’s basketball team will be making its NCAA Division II National Tournament debut as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA West Regional this week in Ohau, Hawaii.
The CSUSM Cougars (25-5) earned an at-large bid and will take on No. 5-seed Azusa Pacific (25-5) on Friday at 10:30 p.m. (PT). CSUSM has faced the APU Cougars on two occasions since both teams have moved to NCAA Division II with both teams collecting a victory.
No. 3/3 Hawaii Pacific (29-1) is the No. 1 seed and will serve as the host after capturing the PacWest Regular-Season and Conference Tournament titles.
The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) will be well-represented in this year’s NCAA West Regional. Joining CSUSM in the bracket is No. 3-seed UC San Diego and No. 8-seed Cal Poly Pomona.
If they win on Friday, the CSUSM Cougars will advance to the semifinals and play on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. (PST). The West Regional Final will be held Monday at 10 p.m. (PT) with the winner advancing to the NCAA DII Elite Eight (March 24-27) in Birmingham, Alabama.
