The City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office has awarded 26 Community Arts Grants totaling $77,000, for 2019.
“Cultural Arts Manager Richard Schultz commented, “We assembled three diverse panels of community members who reviewed the applications. As the final step, the Arts Commission approved the funding requests. All of us who were involved in the application process were equally impressed by the array of arts activities seeking support in 2019.”
The grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations, schools and school-related organizations for visual, media, literary and performing arts projects taking place in Carlsbad.
The grants program supports projects and activities in all artistic disciplines that provide quality arts and cultural programming to Carlsbad residents and visitors. Their purpose is to:Reinforce the artistic and cultural opportunities and experiences for residents
Provide arts education opportunities for all ages
Encourage new arts programs and emerging organizations in Carlsbad
Support arts and cultural organizations and promote Carlsbad as a vibrant, creative community destination for visitors throughout the world

Grants are awarded in three classifications: Arts Organizations, Educational Institutions and Affiliated Groups and Special Opportunity.
Arts Organizations may apply in two categories: Arts Projects and Capacity Building. There is a funding limit of $7,500 for Arts Projects and $5,000 for Capacity Building.
There is no limit to the number of applications schools can submit, but all awards have a funding limit of $2,500.
The Special Opportunity grant category accepts applications throughout the year for schools and organizations with a funding limit of $3,000.
