Vista, CA — The Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum (AGSEM) in Vista is expanding its hands-on classes and community programming, offering local residents new opportunities to learn traditional skills in a unique outdoor setting.
Located on a 55-acre campus off North Santa Fe Avenue, the museum is introducing additional workshops in blacksmithing, fiber arts, woodworking, and other craft and trade skills. The expanded programming allows beginners and experienced participants alike to learn directly from skilled instructors through small, hands-on classes.
One of the growing programs at the museum is blacksmithing, where students can begin with introductory classes and continue developing their skills through a series of projects that lead to certification through the California Blacksmiths Association.

“People are looking for experiences where they can learn something real and work with their hands,”

organizers said. “Our goal is to make the museum a place where the community can come together to learn practical skills and explore traditional crafts.”
In addition to classes, the museum continues to host popular community events and demonstrations throughout the year that highlight historic equipment, artisan guilds, and traditional agricultural practices.
The museum welcomes more than 15,000 visitors annually and offers a wide range of opportunities for families, students, and hobbyists to participate in hands-on learning.
More information about upcoming classes, events, and membership opportunities can be found at www.agsem.org.
