The Carlsbad Village Association (CVA) is a non-profit organization whose core purpose is to lead the continual improvement of Carlsbad Village by promoting and enhancing its business, cultural, and community vitality, making it the premier destination in North County San Diego. CVA’s roots go back a long way and spans decades in downtown Carlsbad. It is continually reinventing itself to stay relevant to the needs of the new and emerging businesses and business climate.

CVA is a 501c6 not-for-profit organization that is fully self-funded through its events such as the State Street Farmers’ Market (established in 1994), Art in the Village, Makers Market, and Taste of Carlsbad Village. It reinvests in its community by hosting free community events year-long including scavenger hunts, gift card giveaways, shop hops, art walks, and events such as Flicks at the Fountain, Halloween in the Village, Pets on Parade and others. These events are designed to help build community, increase foot traffic to businesses, brand Carlsbad Village as a premier place to shop, dine and play, and keep downtown Carlsbad front of mind for locals and visitors. It also reinvests into a robust social media program to further raise the awareness of Carlsbad Village with a following of nearly 30,000 across its Instagram and Facebook platforms.

CVA has two full time staff members – Christine Davis, Executive Director, and Tish Gehringer, Program Manager. Its all volunteer board is comprised of eight Carlsbad Village business professionals, each representing a different business sector, and one resident member. CVA currently has approximately 80 members having launched its new business and resident membership program just a few weeks prior to the pandemic. And CVA is pleased to say that its volunteer ambassador program now has over 40 participants. During the pandemic alone, CVA used over 400 volunteer hours keeping the State Street Farmer’s Market in compliance with all safety and health guidelilnes mandated by the county and the state.

The Carlsbad Village Association is all about community. Everything its staff, board members, and volunteers do is meant to enhance and improve the business climate downtown and help make the Village a premier deistination. Please consider joining CVA in its efforts because as you invest in the Carlsbad Village Association, they turn around and invest it back into Carlsbad Village.
