CJ Di Mento was appointed the new Director of the Oceanside Public Library. Ms. Di Mento brings extensive professional experience in library services. Most recently, CJ served as Library Division Manager, in which she oversaw programming, outreach and literacy initiatives. She holds a Master’s Degree in Human Relations and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science. Her experience with grant writing has brought the City funds from the CA. State Library, the CA. Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, amongst others. Serving as the City staff liaison to the Arts Commission, Ms. Di Mento oversaw the creation of the City’s first cultural plan, O’Arts: Master Plan for the Arts. She also spearheaded the state-designation of Oceanside as one of only 14 cultural districts in California and continues to lead that work.
Former Library Director Sherri Cosby retired in May after 35 years with the Library, and the last 10 years as Director. Ms. Cosby’s many Library achievements include the home delivery program, expansion of Library hours, additional bookmobiles, library card for every student, and many more through the years.
