Vista, CA- The Boys & Girls Club of Vista (BGCV) is fulfilling their mission by partnering with the community and families in new ways to ensure all children have their most basic needs met and that families feel supported while knowing their children are in safe and caring environment.

Monday, May 4th we open to serve children in kindergarten through eighth grade with full day camps for kids of critical, essential workers. This begins a careful, phased reopening, starting with 18 available openings for a range of ages available now, adding more as needed. The Club will provide care from 7:00am to 6:30 pm Monday – Friday for $120 each week. “We are committed to ensuring that we do not pass the additional costs of running at a 9:1 ratio on to the families that we serve,” shared Matt Koumaras President & CEO.

Essential workers may sign up for childcare today at www.bgcvista.org. This past month BGCV partnered with the Vista Unified School District (VUSD) distributing over meals to over 3,400 children in our community. In addition to these WaveCafe meals, the Club distributes gift cards from local restaurants to Club families ensuring an additional family meal for those in need.

Families currently struggling to work, teach, and support each other while staying safe at home can rely on BGCV for important support. Each week trained Club Staff offer mentoring to Club members. BGCV is also providing online homework help and an intro to computing class.

“We want to ensure our Club members get the critical care and support they received at the Club before the pandemic, help with their homework, a listening ear, and an encouraging virtual high five. We miss our kids and want to make sure that are all doing well.” Diana Ortiz, Site Supervisor at Vista Magnet Middle School.

The Club has also started a weekly family newsletter full of resources. BGCV wants to make sure that ALL kids in our community have the resources they need to be successful through virtual programming if they are not able to participate in our current in-person youth development. If you are interested in receiving our newsletter, supporting Club families with additional food, or virtual volunteer opportunities please contact us via email at info@bgcvista.com.
