SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Breann Horn and Madison Murr of the Cal State San Marcos women’s golf team and Jason McElroy of the Cal State San Marcos men’s golf team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
The 2023 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50% of the team’s events. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21 (men) and June 22 (women).
