The City of Carlsbad reminds drivers that the following roads will be closed in and around the Carlsbad Triathlon course on Sunday, July 14, from approximately 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Carlsbad Boulevard between Pine Street and La Costa Avenue
Tamarack Avenue between Carlsbad Boulevard and Garfield Street
Palomar Airport Road between Carlsbad Boulevard and Avenida Encinas
Poinsettia Lane between Carlsbad Boulevard and Avenida Encinas
Avenida Encinas between Carlsbad Boulevard and Ponto Drive

General parking for the event is available on streets surrounding the event. Disabled parking is available on Garfield Street between Redwood Avenue and Tamarack Avenue. A limited number of disabled parking spaces will also be available until 11 a.m. at Vigilucci’s Seafood & Steakhouse on Carlsbad Boulevard at Tamarack Avenue. In addition, Tamarack Avenue will be closed west of Garfield Street—except for metered parking.

The City of Carlsbad Police Department and volunteers will assist cars needing to get in or out of closed or partially closed areas when safety allows. Those who need to get in or out of the triathlon area during the event can do so on a nearby street not affected by race-day closures.

The Carlsbad Triathlon begins and ends at the Tamarack Surf Beach parking lot, which will be closed beginning Saturday, July 13, through Sunday, July 14. The race course runs from the Tamarack Surf Beach parking lot and continues as far south as La Costa Avenue.

The Carlsbad Triathlon is in the world’s top five longest running triathlons and attracts first time to elite competitors. More than 2,000 spectators and 1,000 participants are expected, which helps to support the local economy and raise the city’s profile as a great place to enjoy a healthy, outdoor lifestyle.
