Cougars Debut at No. 8 in the NCAA West Regional

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In the first 2018 NCAA Division II West Region rankings, the Cal State San Marcos men’s basketball team made its debut in the No. 8 spot, announced Wednesday.
The Cougars are 18-6 on the season and 13-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). They have won seven of their last 10 game. CSUSM leads the CCAA in offense (80.2) and is 20th in the nation in fewest turnovers per game (10.6).
CSUSM is one of three CCAA teams represented in the top 10 spots in the West Region poll. Western Oregon grabbed the top spot, followed by California Baptist (2), Cal Poly Pomona (3), Dixie State (4), UC San Diego (5), Point Loma (6), Saint Martin’s (7) and CSUSM filling out the top-eight.
The Cougars have four games remaining in the regular season. CSUSM will play at Humboldt on Thursday, Feb. 15 and at Chico on Saturday, Feb. 17 before closing out the season at home against Cal State L.A. (Feb. 22) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (Feb. 24).
