Search Warrant Served
On July 27, members of the Escondido Police Department’s SWAT Unit assisted Gang and SIU
detectives to serve a search warrant at a residence. The detectives located a half pound of methamphetamines, a quarter pound of GHB and two handguns at the location. A male that lives in the residence was arrested for the illegal contraband and is a previous felon.
. Did You Know?? There are many acronyms in police work. SIU stands for the Special Investigations Unit. These investigators look in to crimes involving drugs and vice issues like prostitution, alcohol establishments, gambling, and trafficking (of people and illegal contraband). SWAT stands for Special Weapons and Tactics. The unit is comprised of officers that receive special tactical training to deal with the most dangerous situations in police work, such as hostage rescues, dignitary protection, and barricades persons.

Vehicle Pursuits
On July 23, a woman hit another vehicle and took off. Officers followed her on to the freeway, where California Highway Patrol (CHP) took over and chased her to Compton, CA where she was arrested and returned to Escondido.

On July 25, CHP was chasing a car that had allegedly shot at another driver. Highway Patrol requested assistance from Escondido Police but before officers could catch up, the car got off the freeway at Via Rancho Parkway and crashed. The driver fled, but Escondido officers and a police K9 were able to locate and arrest him.

Congratulations Dispatcher Dan Broach!
Dan Broach has served the City of Escondido for over 29 years. He has been a constant calm, level headed, competent
and insightful voice on our police and fire radios and he will be
missed. Dan’s wife, Wendee, two sons, and granddaughter
Ashton (probably his favorite) can enjoy golfing, vacationing
with his boat, and visiting wineries with him full time now. Congratulations to you, Dan, and good luck in your next chapter!
