CARSLBAD-Calif. – On May 15, at 6:24 a.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department was called to the intersection of El Camino Real and Camino Vida Roble due to a traffic collision.
Officers found a single occupant of a vehicle had been traveling northbound on El Camino Real when the vehicle struck a signal pole on the northeast curb line. Preliminary investigation estimates the vehicle may have been travelling at an excessive speed.
The driver, identified as a 25-year-old female out of Oceanside, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Carlsbad Fire Department. She was determined to be deceased on scene.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor. The investigation is ongoing.
