Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Collision in Vista

On November 19, 2019, at approximately 05:45 AM, deputies from the Vista Patrol Station responded to a report of a vehicle that had collided with a pedestrian near 823 E. Vista Way, Vista.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined a vehicle was traveling northbound on E. Vista Way and the pedestrian was crossing E. Vista Way. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when the collision occurred. The driver, a 42-year old male, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The pedestrian, a 63-year old male, was transported to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries. The male later succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision. The Vista Traffic Division along with the assistance of the S.T.A.R. team is handling the investigation.
