First Friday Art Walk Oceanside, March 2nd

First Friday Art Walk Oceanside is partnering once again with the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, 110 N. Myers St., to kick off the new Art Walk season on Friday, March 2nd from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

“We held our 2017 season ending Art Walk in December at SpringHill Suites and it was the most successful event to date with over 1500 people in attendance.

Dozens of local artists and vendors are participating in the March 2nd Art Walk, including Masters Kitchen and Cocktail. At the April 6 Art Walk, Masters will showcase Art Walk Artists in its new gallery space adjacent to the restaurant, says Susan Brown, president of the Oceanside Friends of the Arts.

This is the second year that the First Friday Art Walk Oceanside has been operated under new management from the Oceanside Friends of the Arts, and has seen increasing growth in attendance and local/regional participating artists for the events that run monthly from March to December. Oceanside Friends of the Arts raises funds for scholarships for kids that want to further their education at one of many local arts and culture schools from beginner to advanced.

The Oceanside Friends of the Arts was established in 2016 with the goal of establishing Oceanside and surrounding communities as an important arts, culture, entertainment and tourism hub/destination that catalyzes economic prosperity and a high quality of life for Oceanside’s future. The Oceanside Cultural District was recently selected as one of California’s 14, premier state-designated cultural districts by the California Arts Council. The California Cultural District’s program aims to leverage the state’s artistic and cultural assets.

The shared values of this program are to grow and sustain authentic grassroots arts and cultural opportunities, increasing the visibility of local artists and community participation in local arts and culture, and promoting socioeconomic and ethnic diversity.

The Oceanside Cultural District partners include: the City of Oceanside, Oceanside Public Library, Oceanside Arts Commission, Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside Friends of the Arts and MainStreet Oceanside. Together they bring a focus on inclusivity, creativity, talent, and economic development to the forefront in the District.
