SANTA YSABEL, CA (FEBRUARY 20, 2025) – The Ilan-Lael Foundation welcomes visitors for another season of Spring Tours, inviting art lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and those seeking inspiration to immerse themselves in the world of Ilan-Lael. From May 2nd to June 14th, tours will be offered every Monday, Friday, and Saturday. Attendees can experience the captivating fusion of art and nature as they explore the visionary work of the late James Hubbell, surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Santa Ysabel landscape. Tours are available at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. each day.
This year, the Ilan-Lael Foundation is thrilled to introduce Saturday Socials—a brand-new tour experience that invites friends and supporters of the Foundation to engage with visitors, share their expertise, and enjoy exclusive food and drink offerings. These special events will take place at various scenic spots across the property, including the Art Center, the Boy’s House patio, Poolside, and the Pollinator Garden. After the standard 90-minute docent-led tour, guests can enjoy a more intimate, extended experience of the beautiful Ilan-Lael grounds.
The Ilan-Lael Foundation warmly invites guests to step into the magical realm of James Hubbell’s creations, designed as living and working spaces for his family, and built with the utmost respect for the natural world. The structures, born from Hubbell’s imagination, stand as a testament to his artistic brilliance. Even after his passing this past year, the Foundation continues to honor his enduring legacy and vision.
“We’re thrilled to once again welcome visitors to the enchanting world of Ilan-Lael this Spring,” said Marianne Gerdes, Executive Director of the Ilan-Lael Foundation. “This year is particularly exciting because we’re launching our Saturday Socials! This new event will provide an opportunity for both first-time visitors and familiar faces to rediscover the grounds in a fresh and exciting way. Attendees will enjoy delicious food and drinks and can listen to engaging talks from our friends and partners. We can’t wait to share this new experience with you!”
James Hubbell’s deep connection to nature and his belief in the transformative power of art are evident in his creations, which combine organic beauty with sustainable design. His work extends beyond art, impacting the community through initiatives such as the construction of schools in underserved areas of Tijuana, Mexico, and the development of the Pacific Rim Park concept.
As guests explore the intricate sculptures, gardens, and structures of Ilan-Lael, they will encounter the heart of Hubbell’s artistic vision. The Spring Tours offer a unique opportunity to learn about Hubbell’s creative process and the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote art, nature, and community engagement through its programs and initiatives.
