OCEANSIDE, CA — The Oceanside Police Department reminds residents and visitors to celebrate safely and responsibly during this year’s Fourth of July holiday. Additional officers will be deployed throughout the city, with a focus on the beach, harbor, and downtown areas, to help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend for everyone. The City of Oceanside will host its annual Independence Day fireworks display and drone show on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. and is expected to draw a large crowd. Please note there will be no fireworks display on July 4 within city limits.
Traffic and Road Closures
Traffic control measures may be in effect during the holiday weekend to support pedestrian safety and manage congestion:
• On July 3: Rancho Del Oro Drive, between Oceanside Boulevard and Mesa Drive, will be closed to vehicle traffic from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. • On July 4: The Strand will be closed to vehicle traffic between Wisconsin Avenue and Breakwater Way from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. • Harbor Access: Westbound traffic on Harbor Drive (between North Coast Highway and Harbor Drive North) may be restricted from approximately 8:30 p.m. to midnight due to fireworks at Del Mar Beach aboard Camp Pendleton.
Entry to the harbor from Carmelo Drive may also be restricted during these hours. Parking Enforcement All standard parking regulations will be enforced throughout the holiday, with the exception of street sweeping and two-hour parking zones. Visitors are encouraged to observe all posted signage and plan ahead for increased traffic and limited parking availability. Safety Zone and Increased Fines The area west of the railroad tracks to the ocean, including the beach and harbor, from Carlsbad to Camp Pendleton, is designated as a Safety Zone on July 4. Under City Ordinance 1.7(i), fines for municipal code violations within this area will be tripled. Violations include, but are not limited to: • Possession or consumption of alcohol on the beach • Glass beverage containers • Diving or jumping from the pier • Dogs on the beach or pier (except service animals) Fireworks Prohibited- New Ordinance and Increased Penalties All fireworks, including sparklers and other novelty items, are prohibited in the City of Oceanside.
Under the City of Oceanside’s newly adopted fireworks ordinance, enforcement efforts have been strengthened to help reduce fire risks, injuries, noise disturbances, and impacts to the community. Anyone found possessing, using, selling, or allowing the use of illegal fireworks may face increased penalties, with fines starting at $500 and increasing up to $10,000 for repeat offenders.
