The City of Carlsbad’s newly formed Independent Redistricting Commission is scheduled to meet for the first time Thursday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m., officially kicking off the process of re-drawing the boundaries of City Council districts based on the latest Census. The meeting is open to the public and will take place in the City Council Chamber, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. The meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s website and cable channel (Spectrum 24 and AT&T U-verse channel 99). The July 29 meeting will cover information about the re-districting process, the commission’s role and the schedule of public meetings.
As part of the re-districting process, the city will also gather community input through several public meetings, hearings, workshops and online surveys.
