For years, a freeway underpass in unincorporated East County has been home to dozens of people experiencing homelessness. Now, thanks to outreach lead by the County’s Department of Homeless Solutions and Equitable Communities, and in collaboration with multiple agencies, organizations, community partners and other county departments, the former large encampment area is being transformed.
On August 10th, it will become a designated Safe Parking site, the first in East County, and a centralized touchpoint for supportive services.
