Grass League’s West Coast Major Championship returns September 4–6 with a $175,000 purse, National Golf Channel coverage, and more than 30 million creator followers.
OCEANSIDE, Calif. — August 6th, 2026 — The municipal golf course a community fought to save is once again taking center stage.
The Grass League today announced the return of Summer Grind, the league’s West Coast Major Championship, to Goat Hill Park in Oceanside from Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6, 2026. The three-day event will bring together all 11 Grass League franchises alongside professional golfers, rising amateurs, and some of the biggest creators in golf for Labor Day weekend.
As the league’s only event held outside Arizona, Summer Grind transforms Goat Hill Park into a nationally televised championship venue featuring a $175,000 purse, creator competitions, live entertainment, and three days of competition broadcast on Golf Channel, with additional coverage across digital and social platforms. Known as “The People’s Park,” Goat Hill Park has become one of the country’s most celebrated municipal golf courses after Oceanside residents rallied in 2014 to save it from redevelopment. Today, it serves as a community gathering place that supports junior golf, youth development, and affordable access to the game, making it a fitting home for the league’s premier West Coast event.

This year’s Summer Grind is expected to feature creators with a combined reach of more than 30 million followers. The Grass League will be announcing Summer Grind participants later this month. The weekend begins Friday with The Showcase, a creator-driven team scramble pairing Grass League players with top creators to determine seeding for Saturday night’s Ace Race. The Ace Race is the league’s signature under-the-lights closest-to-the-pin competition, featuring a $50,000 winner-take-all prize and a $100,000 hole-in-one bonus for any ace during the event.
Championship play begins Saturday and concludes Sunday with the final round of Summer Grind, airing live on Golf Channel as teams chase the $125,000 tournament purse.
Summer Grind also highlights the league’s growing connection to Southern California through the San Diego Munis, one of the league’s flagship franchises. Beyond the competition, Summer Grind offers fans another reason to spend Labor Day weekend in Oceanside. Visitors can experience championship golf while enjoying the city’s beaches, restaurants, breweries, and walkable downtown, making it one of Southern California’s marquee holiday weekend events.
