Traffic Improvements To Reduce Congestion on Civic Center Drive

Work is underway by City of Vista contractors on a road improvement project to relieve traffic congestion along the northbound lanes on Civic Center Drive at Postal Way. The northbound lanes at the intersection will be widened to make room for a new right turn lane. The new turn lane will provide a separate lane for motorists queuing up to turn right and will relieve traffic congestion at the intersection; thus allowing through-lane drivers to move through the signal without stopping.

The project is part of the City’s ongoing Traffic Congestion Management Plan initiated to mitigate some of the traffic congestion throughout Vista. Completed projects include an additional third left turn lane on Sycamore Drive at S. Melrose; re-striping of Civic Center Drive to add a second left turn lane onto E. Vista Way; installing traffic signal modifications; synchronizing signal timing on the various corridors; and re-striping street surface pavement to accommodate additional turn lanes.

Construction on the Civic Center Drive new turn lane is expected to be completed in December, 2019.
