MARCOS, Calif. – Women’s soccer, men’s soccer and volleyball will be the only sports in action this week for Cal State San Marcos Athletics.

Men’s and women’s soccer will head to Cal State LA to face the Golden Eagles on Thursday. The women’s game will kick off at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m. They’ll then compete in their final regular-season game at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday. The women’s game will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by the men’s game at 2 p.m.

Volleyball’s lone match of the week will see them head to La Jolla to face UC San Diego on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.

THURSDAY AT LA •The Golden Eagles sit right behind CSUSM in the CCAA standings with 10 points.
•CSULA took a 1-0 loss at Cal State Monterey Bay last Friday before earning a 1-0 win at Cal State East Bay on Sunday.
•The Golden Eagles’ goals-against average of .714 ranks 43rd in the nation while the team’s shutout percentage of .500 also ranks 43rd.
•The all-time series between CSUSM and CSULA is knotted up at 3-3.
•All three losses to the Golden Eagles have occurred in LA as the Cougars are 0-3.
•Last year, CSUSM earned a 3-2 win at The Cage.

REGULAR-SEASON FINALE AT DOMINGUEZ HILLS •The Toros fell 1-0 at Cal State East Bay last Friday before coming up with a 1-0 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday.
•Before welcoming the Cougars, the Toros will first face No. 2 UC San Diego on Thursday.
•The Toros are tied with CSULA for eighth in the CCAA standings with 10 points.
•CSUDH has the worst save percentage in the CCAA at .714.
•Holly Kaemerle’s 1.17 points per game ranks third in the conference.
•CSUSM owns a 4-3-1 lead in the all-time series against CSUDH, but the series is knotted at 3-3 when playing in Carson.
•In its last five meetings against the Toros, the Cougars are 4-0-1.

THE RENNEISEN FILE •Head coach Bobby Renneisen enters his sixth year in charge of the women’s program and 14th overall at CSUSM
•Renneisen’s 2018 team made its second consecutive CCAA Tournament appearance in 2018 while also handing No. 1 UC San Diego its lone regular-season loss.
•Between 2006-13, Renneisen was an assistant/associate head coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.
•As the women’s head coach, Renneisen is 41-37-25 (.519) for his career with the Cougars.

•The Toros’ have the worst scoring offense in the league at 1.00 goals per game and the worst scoring defense at 2.428 goals allowed per game.
•CSUDH is putting up 5.61 corner kicks per game, third in the CCAA and 35th nationally.
•CSUSM is 1-6 in the all-time series against CSUDH and is 0-5 when playing in Carson.
•Last season, the Cougars earned their first victory against the Toros with a 2-1 win in The Cage.

THE PULVERS FILE •This season marks the 14th season for head coach Ron Pulvers at CSUSM.
•Pulvers has a 116-93-25 (.549) record as CSUSM’s head men’s coach.
•In 24 seasons as a collegiate head men’s soccer coach, Pulvers holds a 242-164-39 (.588) career record.
•He was 84-42-24 (.640) while in charge of the CSUSM women’s program.

SHOWDOWN AT UC SAN DIEGO •Saturday’s match at UCSD will be the first time the Cougars and Tritons will face each other this season.
•The Cougars will be searching for a win at UCSD for the first time as CSUSM has a 0-3 record when playing at RIMAC Arena.
•The Tritons dropped a four-set match last Thursday at Sonoma State, giving CSUSM sole possession of third place in the CCAA South Division standings.
•Jessica Reible, last week’s National and CCAA Player of the Week, is second in the conference in hitting percentage (.430) and blocks per set (1.04).
•The Tritons are fourth in the CCAA South Division standings.

THE LEONARD FILE •Head coach Andrea Leonard enters her ninth season in charge of the Cougar volleyball team, a program she has built from the ground up since arriving on campus in 2010.
•Leonard has a 174-112 (.608) record as CSUSM’s head coach.
•In 16 seasons as a collegiate head volleyball coach, Leonard holds a 266-238 (.528) career record.
•Leonard was CSUSM’s first-ever CCAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to a third-place finish in the overall standings in the 2017 season.
