Despite pleas from the community, the Vista City Council voted 3-2 in favor of Sunroad Plaza on June 23, 2020. This development, consisting of four (4) drive-thru restaurants creates community and environmental concerns due to excessive green-house gas emissions, traffic congestion, and more. New considerations and unanswered questions warrant the City of Vista to reconsider their approval of the Sunroad Plaza development. A coalition of Vista residents and community groups, including South Vista Communities, Vista Climate Action Planners, and the Democratic Club of Vista, stand together and strongly urge the Vista City Council hear the voice of the community and bring the Sunroad Plaza Development back on the agenda for a revote. A protest organized by Katie Melendez will consist of 3 Days of Action to urge the Vista
City Council to reconsider this development for the long-term quality of life and health benefits to our community.

1) Rush Hour Protest
Tuesday 7/14, 4-6pm.
Protesters will meet at the Northeast corner of Hacienda and Vista Village Drive. All participants will be expected to wear a mask and physically distance, staying 6ft apart.

2) Letters to Vista

Protesters will be writing letters to Vista City Council to share our concerns and ask the City to reconsider the development. Our goal is to submit 300 letters. Participants are asked to email dcalvo@cityofvista.com and request that the letter be forwarded to City Council.

3) Call Out Their Vote
Thursday 7/16, All Day
