Vista Unified Celebrated its 18th Annual Art Festival, which included various forms of art, from the visual to performing arts. The festival was from 10:00 am to 4:00 p.m., located on Main Street in downtown Vista. All art exhibited was by students grades TK-12th from schools around Vista Unified.

Vista Unified is proud to sponsor and provide schools with multiple resources to allow students to engage with their schools through the arts. They acknowledge that many students find art as their passion and want to provide a stepping stone for them to express themselves at their school. The festival allows the students to share with parents, students, and the community the talent that they have.

As seen throughout the communities, the pandemic shut down many events, including the festival for two years; yet, with the help of the teachers and students, the public enjoyed 29 groups of performing arts such as choir, drama, ballet folklórico, and mariachi, which was a third more than in previous years.

Throughout Main Street, teachers and students displayed artwork like ceramics, acrylic on canvas, graphite, colored pencil, and more. The noise of the music, conversations, and laughter filled downtown Vista along with the art. People from various backgrounds blended their passions for art and shared a bit of their talent with the public. Art in Vista has no boundaries, and with the help of events like these, students are able to share their passions and see the support of their community. The joy from the students, parents, and community demonstrates the importance of the arts in Vista.

Art has an attribute like any other big sporting event to bring people together. It is an element that every school needs and Vista Unified is no exception. Thus, the continuing support that the arts receive is vital in enriching the education of the students, which Vista Unified is proud to support.

Next time you hear about the Vista Art Festival, don’t hesitate to come cheer on and enjoy the amazing talent of the students.
